Attendance Policies
Arrival:
Students should arrive at school between 8:10 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Parents should drive through the desginated area in front of the WCS
entrance, where staff members will assist each child out of the car and
direct the children to the classroom. For your child's safety, do not
drop off your student unless there is a staff member there to greet him
and provide for his safety.
Students should arrive early enough so that they may be seated and ready to begin the instructional day at 8:30.
A student must be in school for a total of four (4) hours a day to be considered “present” for that day.
Tardiness:
The school day begins promptly at 8:30am. Students who are late find
that they miss much needed information for the entire day. Please
be sure your student arrives on time and is not put in a position of
feeling “behind” all day. Tardiness is discouraged and recorded on
the report card. Five (5) days of tardiness will equate to one (1)
day’s absence. Students who arrive after 8:30am must be signed in by
their parent at the school office.
Illness:
One of our goals at Wynnbrook Christian School is to foster good
health. To that end, students should not come to school with a
temperature of 100 degrees or higher. Students who have had an elevated
temperature, should remain at home until they have been without a fever
for 24 hours. Observing this policy will prevent other children from
becoming ill.
Dismissal: Dismissal from daily classes is as follows:
Kindergarten
2:30 p.m.
1st - 2nd grades
3:00 p.m.
3rd, 4th & 5th grades
3:00 p.m.
Parents should drive through the covered drive to pick up their children.
Late Pickup:
After the appointed time, students will be kept in the school office,
where parents may pick them up in person. Students not picked up within
15 minutes of the end of the school day will be considered a “late
pickup” and a $5.00/per five-minute increment charge will apply.
Early Dismissal:
Requests for early dismissal will be approved only in urgent
situations. Parents requesting early dismissal must report to the WCS
office for a permission slip before going to the student's classroom.
Teachers will not release students early without written notification
from the WCS office.
Weather Releases:
WCS will mirror the Muscoggee County School decisions on school
cancellation, late arrival, or early release due to severe weather.
Parents should check local radio and television stations for
announcements on school closings. Students already at school will be
held at WCS until their parent arrive for pickup.
A key point to remember:
If Muscogee County Schools are closed, Wynnbrook Christian School is closed also.
Vacations/Trips:
Parents are encouraged to schedule family vacations to coincide with
holidays or scheduled vacation periods that do not conflict with the
academic year. When this is not possible, parents are expected to
notify WCS of the proposed absence, and to work closely with the
teacher to either have the student complete the work to be missed in
advance, or during the period of absence. All the missed work is due to
be turned in the first day the student returns to class following the
absence. Missed tests will be administered as soon as possible
following the student's return.
